Guests on the land
A friend called us in Moscow: “We have guests on the land.” By the road lay a large Govardhan shila, with about a hundred small shilas.
Hold your retreat or yatra at the ashram of Srila Bhakti Vijnana Goswami, at the foot of Govardhan, 400 m from the parikrama path. Everything here is arranged for bhajan.
Idea and spiritual guidance
It all began with an instruction from Srila Bhakti Vijnana Goswami: to create a place in Braj that is fully centred on devotional service. A place of silence and trees, inspiring Bhagavatam and deep kirtans, service to Vaishnavas and to cows.
Now we want every group that comes here to feel what it was all for: a simple and beautiful life in Krishna consciousness at the foot of Sri Giriraj.

Worship
Sri Giriraj at the centre of the kunj, the six Goswamis in their clay kutirs, and Srila Prabhupada.
He came to us before the fence, the water and the electricity. As tradition has it, He hitch-hiked.

A friend called us in Moscow: “We have guests on the land.” By the road lay a large Govardhan shila, with about a hundred small shilas.

We moved Giriraj to the centre of the land and held a puja. A local boy we did not know gave Him tilak.

That is how much our Giriraj weighs. He can only be moved with a crane or a tractor.

Four metal posts and a tin roof. But the festivals in this temple were real ones.

We spent a long time designing it and thought through every detail, from the carved stone to the jali screens.

His temple is the centre of every festival at the ashram. All year round, flowers for Him grow in our kunj.

About the ashram
A centre of learning and service at the foot of Govardhan.
Each word in the ashram’s name tells you something about life here. Open the words to read more.
The buildings and grounds, talks and kirtan, service and the way people treat each other: we want all of it to reflect the beauty of the spiritual world.

Rupa is the form of bhakti that we serve: our acharyas Rupa Goswami and Srila Prabhupada, hearing and chanting, and the beautiful deities of Sri Sri Radha-Govinda.

Service is the goal of life and also the way to reach it. Everything at the ashram is done in this spirit, including how we look after your group.

A quiet, hidden place, away from noise and curious eyes, where you can live a simple and beautiful spiritual life.
