A palace built for Vaishnavas.
Anyone visiting India often struggles with unfamiliar living conditions. Paint peels off the walls, appliances burn out in sockets, noise and shouting occur at any time of the day or night.. The body protests, the mind is disturbed, and all this prevents full immersion into spiritual practice.
When designing the guest house for Shri Rupa Seva Kunj, we aimed not only to solve our guests' domestic issues but also to change the perception of living in a holy place, combining Western comfort with traditional Indian aesthetics.
Our guest house is built in the old Jaipur style, with arches, carvings, domes, and open pavilions. Every detail was designed and brought to life with great love and care. We even built an entire factory to manufacture various parts from fiber-reinforced concrete.
The guest house has a total of 30 rooms: 24 double rooms and 6 quadruple rooms, making the maximum number of guests 72.
Each room is equipped with all necessary amenities: wooden furniture, comfortable mattresses, quality plumbing, specially treated water (the local water is too salty and hard), fresh towels and bed linens. Thick double-layered walls and double-glazed windows help maintain temperature and protect from noise. We used a traditional ancient lime plastering technique for the walls. On the ground floor, each room has its own balcony and a small garden, ensuring no strangers could walk right under the windows. The balconies of the second-floor rooms offer a beautiful view of Giriraj. Personal deities, accompanying our guests, will find their temporary homes in the specially crafted wall altars.
On the third floor, there is a fully equipped space for lectures and seminars and a large open rooftop with a magnificent view of Giriraj.
